BANGOR, Maine — An investigator with the Maine Forest Service has been asked to determine the cause of a fire Saturday night on Cherry Lane behind Landmark Christian Academy, located off Ohio Street.

The ground fire was fueled by grass, leaves, small shrubs and the bases of small trees, Assistant Fire Chief Rick Cheverie said Sunday. No buildings were in danger, he said.

Bangor firefighters were on the scene for about 3½ hours, according to Cheverie.

A report of smoke in the area came in about 5:50 p.m. Saturday, according to a Bangor dispatcher.

Cheverie said Sunday that there had been no flare-ups of the fire Sunday.
