Two men indicted by Penobscot County grand jury on sex charges in separate cases

BANGOR, Maine — Two Penobscot County men were indicted Wednesday on sex charges in separate cases by the Penobscot County grand jury.

John Murray, 27, of Greenbush, was indicted on 12 counts of unlawful sexual contact. Six charges are Class A crimes and six are Class B crimes, according to the Penobscot County district attorney’s office.

Murray allegedly assaulted a female relative of his former girlfriend in 2010 and 2011 when the child was 11 and 12 years old, Michael Roberts, deputy district attorney, said Wednesday. The girl, who will turn 14 before the end of the year, reported the alleged abuse early this summer.
