BANGOR, Maine — A woman has been charged in connection with a pit bull mix attacking and killing a smaller dog, a Yorkie mix, on 17th Street on Saturday, police said.
Rebecca Hatch, 47, of Bangor, was summoned for keeping a dangerous dog, according to Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton.
Cotton said Hatch contacted police on Monday admitting that the offending dog, which was leashed, had gotten away from her grasp and attacked the smaller dog.
The sergeant added the dog belongs to an ex-boyfriend of Hatch, and it was up to date on its shots. She had contacted police after news of the incident had circulated on social media.
