WESTBROOK, Maine — Michael Pardue, Westbrook’s public safety director, is stepping down.
Pardue, who says he’s returning to the private sector next month, oversaw both Westbrook’s police and fire departments.
Pardue started as a consultant for the fire department and eventually transitioned to director several years ago. He plans to return to his consulting firm, but says he will miss the people he worked with.
“What is fun about coming to work is the people, the dynamics that we all enjoy, but you have to look at [and] think about future opportunities,” Pardue said.
Westbrook officials say retired Commanding Officer Janine Roberts will act as interim police chief and Deputy Fire Chief Andrew Turcotte will be the interim fire chief.
Westbrook officials expect to fill the public safety director position in the coming weeks.
