BANGOR — The Maine Technology Institute TechWalk 2014 will be held 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Cross Insurance Center, 515 Main St. The theme is “Connecting Through Technology.”
At the event, approximately 100 MTI portfolio companies will exhibit their innovative technologies along with other organizations that support the growth and development of Maine businesses.
The Blackstone Accelerates Growth third anniversary luncheon will feature keynote speaker and bestselling author Victor W. Hwang. Attend workshops and one-on-one meetings with industry experts, take a tour of the University of Maine and the Target Technology Center. Pledge drive results
BANGOR — The Maine Public Broadcasting Network announced that its Super Thursday One-Day Radio Pledge Drive again exceeded its fall membership drive goal in August by more than 10 percent, raising more than $232,000.
During the 24-hour period, more than 2,265 listeners, viewers and existing members donated by phone and online. More than 24 percent of the support for the drive came from new members to MPBN. More than 40 volunteers helped answer pledge phones as MPBN radio, television and social media sites encouraged participation.
BANGOR — WBRC Architects-Engineers announced recently the promotion of Adam Gillespie of Eddington as leader of the WBRC Structural Engineering Department.
During his 10 years with WBRC, Gillespie has been a part of many projects, including Bangor Police Department; Orono Public Library; Beardsley Meeting House and Gracie Theatre at Husson University, Bangor; Hampden Academy; Maliseet Health Center, Houlton; Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory; Bangor Savings Bank, Augusta; and Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
