EASTPORT, Maine — Eastport will once again offer an excuse to dress up as a pirate this weekend.

The city will host the ninth annual Eastport Pirate Festival Friday through Sunday.

The festival, endorsed by the Eastport Area Chamber of Commerce, includes exhibits of arts and crafts, food vendors, live music, waterfront fireworks, cannon battles and activities for children.

Promoted as the largest pirate festival in New England, it also includes a pirate parade, pirate ball, pirate bed race, pirate crate race, pirate bar fight, pirate re-enactments and a pirate sail for children.

The city’s restaurants offer pirate fare and specials, and in some cases discounts to customers dressed as pirates and wenches.

The complete schedule of activities is available on the festival website.
