NEW LIMERICK, Maine — A teenager from Smyrna lost control of his car Sunday afternoon while taking a corner and totaled it when he crashed, but was able to walk away with only minor injuries, according to Sgt. Brian L. Harris of the Maine State Police.

Austin White, 17, was driving west on County Road at about 4:40 p.m. when he lost control on a corner, traveled off the road and struck a large tree, Harris said.

Trooper Jill Monahan responded to the crash and found that White’s 2001 Dodge sedan had “sustained substantial damage in the crash and was totaled,” the sergeant said.

White suffered minor injuries in the crash but did not require medical attention. He was wearing a seat belt and speed was not a factor, Harris said.
