SANFORD, Maine — Sanford police said Saturday afternoon they have several leads but still had not identified the man whose body was discovered just after 6 p.m. Friday near the Mousam River Dam in Springvale.
Officers were called to the area near the dam on Mill Street on Friday evening after the body of a Caucasian man, likely in his late 40s or early 50s, was found, Cpl. Matthew Gagne said.
Police canvassed the neighborhood but as of Saturday afternoon had not identified him. “Nobody’s been reported missing,” Gagne said. “That’s what’s made it challenging.”
The body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta on Saturday. No additional information was immediately available.
