WARRENSBURG, MISSOURI – Scott Jay Savage, 52, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Scott was born March 19, 1962 in Bangor, Maine the son of Willard Everett Savage and Elsie Lilla (Rogers) Savage.
He was raised in Bangor, having graduated from Hermon High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1980 and was stationed at Plattsburg AFB, New York. While at Plattsburg, he met Lisa Renee Capps and the couple was married on December 29, 1984. Scott’s military career took the couple to Semach AFB, Germany, McGuire AFB, New Jersey and later, Spangdahlem AFB, Germany. In 2000, he was assigned to Whiteman AFB, Missouri until retiring from active duty in August of 2007. Scott earned an Associate’s Degree from Community College of the Air Force and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Photography from University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. He was an avid photographer. He loved beautifying his back yard, but he experienced his greatest joy from spending time with his grandbabies.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa; daughter: Kristen Lea Savage of Warrensburg, MO; two granddaughters: Hailey Renee Akin and Natalie Nicole Heckadon both of Warrensburg; siblings: Angeli Perrow and husband, Mark of Maine; Michael Savage of Virginia; Ronda Savage of Old Town, ME and Julie Forsythe and husband, Cabot of Virginia; father and mother-in-law: James and Patricia Capps of Aurora, MO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents and his daughter, Kayla Renee Savage.
Memorial graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard. Contributions are suggested to Johnson County Cancer Foundation in care of the funeral home. Arrangements entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
