Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers coming to Portland

PORTLAND, Maine — The waiting is the hardest part, but Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers finally come to Maine this summer. The Cumberland County Civic Center, soon-to-be-named Cross Insurance Arena, announced Friday that Petty along with guest Steve Winwood performs Aug. 31.

Tickets go on sale next Friday, June 27. The Labor Day weekend show follows the band’s first studio album release in four years, “Hypnotic Eye.”

To celebrate, all tickets holders receive a copy of the album. Petty released a YouTube video with samples. The record drops July 29.

The tour kicks off in San Diego Aug. 3. Petty plays Fenway Park the day before Portland.
