BANGOR, Maine — A theft complaint at a city department store last week led to drug charges for a Brewer woman, according to police.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on June 4, Bangor police were dispatched to Kmart when they learned Rachelle Cleaves, 32, had numerous unpaid items in her cart and was not being cooperative with store security, according to Sgt. Tim Cotton.

When police arrived and learned Cleaves did not have a receipt for the merchandise, she was arrested for shoplifting, but pills found in a bag Cleaves had tested positive for oxycodone, according to Cotton.

That led police to add a charge of unlawful possession of oxycodone, a Class C felony, according to Cotton.

Cleaves was brought to Penobscot County Jail following her arrest.
