WELLS, Maine — A York County man was arrested early Sunday morning after leading police on a 22-mile pursuit through four communities.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, police were seeking a speeding vehicle driven by Timothy Gregoire of Ogunquit. When police attempted to pull him over, Gregoire took off, Wells police Sgt. Adam Shaw said.

The chase started on Littlefield Road before heading north onto Post Road, which is also Route 1, according to Shaw.

As the vehicle crossed into Wells, the town’s police department and state police were able to terminate the pursuit without injury. Gregoire was taken into custody without incident, the sergeant said.

Gregoire was charged with eluding an officer, operating under the influence, reckless conduct and criminal speeding. He was brought to the York County Jail.
