Basic Training

GREENBUSH — Army Private 2 Tyler J. Whitmore of Greenbush graduated on April 17 from U.S. Army Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

During his 10 weeks Whitmore excelled in the army values, physical fitness, combat marksmanship and discipline. In addition, he  was one of only 10 soldiers chosen out of 205 in his platoon to be promoted.

Whitmore is now attending Advanced Individual Training for Wheel Vehicle Mechanic at Fort Lee, Virginia, for 12 weeks. Then, he will go to Fort Benn, Georgia, for two weeks to attend jump school training for the Airborne Unit.

Whitmore, a 2012 graduate of Old Town High School, is the son of Cathy Jo Whitmore of Greenbush and Kevin Whitmore of Old Town.
