BATH, Maine — An 82-year-old Bath man has been charged with visual sexual aggression against a child after police say he exposed his genitals to two children younger than 12.

Stuart Woodland was charged with the Class C felony on May 3.

Police went to Maple Street just before 5 p.m. that day after the children’s parents reported that a man was walking around with his pants and underwear pulled down, Bath police Lt. Robert Savary said.

Savary said the parents described the man. Police identified the suspect as Woodland and found him at his home wearing clothing that matched the description.

“We’re not sure what prompted him to do this,” Savary said. “But we believe he knew what he was doing.”

Woodland is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on June 17.
