BANGOR, Maine — “Born on the Bayou” but coming to Bangor. Legendary folk rocker and “Father of the Flannel Shirt” John Fogerty has announced a concert stop at Cross Insurance Center on Aug. 2. The show coincides with the Bangor State Fair, which will be held July 25-Aug. 3.

The Grammy Award winner and 1993 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, known for hits like “Proud Mary” and “Who’ll Stop The Rain,” has sold more than 100 million records, earning 18 Gold Albums and 10 Platinum Albums. Fogerty and his No. 1 phenomenal recording “Centerfield” were honored during the 2010 National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies — the first time the National Baseball Hall of Fame has immortalized a musician or song as part of the annual ceremonies.

“We’re excited to have a legendary performer such as John Fogerty performing in Bangor during this year’s Fair. This is a great example of an opportunity for the Cross Insurance Center to compliment and add an exciting new element to the annual community event.”

Concert ticket prices start at $49 and will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19. Tickets can be purchased online at, by calling 800-745-3000, or in person at the Cross Insurance Center box office at 515 Main St.
