PITTSON, Maine — A local man with a lengthy criminal history was arrested Thursday after threatening to kill his neighbor’s wife, according to state police.
The sequence of events leading to the arrest of John White, 50, began at 9 p.m. when troopers were summoned to a Pinkham Road residence for a terrorizing complaint, Lt. Aaron Hayden said.
Hayden said White apparently pulled his vehicle in front of his neighbor’s house while the family was outside and White made threats to kill the neighbor’s wife and children.
According to Hayden, White apparently pulled a large knife and showed it to the neighbor, who “picked up a large stick and told White to go home and sleep it off.”
Shortly after the initial threat was made, the victim and his wife received text messages from White accusing them of stealing one of White’s chickens.
After police consulted with the district attorney’s office, they deemed it appropriate to arrest White on a felony terrorizing charge, according to Hayden. White’s criminal history includes criminal threatening and terrorizing charges over the last few years, the lieutenant said.
White was brought to Kennebec County Jail following his arrest.
