BRUNSWICK, Maine — The trial of a 29-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old is scheduled to begin Monday in Cumberland County Superior Court.

Thomas Harmon, who was 28 at the time of the alleged assault, is charged with gross sexual assault, a Class A felony, which allegedly occurred on Aug. 22, 2012, in Brunswick.

That night, detectives went to Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick, where the girl reported the assault, Detective Sgt. Martin Rinaldii said at the time.

Brunswick police arrested Harmon on Feb. 5, 2013. He was indicted by a Cumberland County grand jury the next month.

Harmon has remained at Cumberland County Jail since the arrest, according to Brunswick police Detective Greg Mears.
