PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A 26-year-old Presque Isle man was charged with felony theft this past weekend after he returned to a Walmart store where he allegedly had shoplifted some items.

Chris Crawford Hyson-Tuttle, 26, was arrested by Officer Kevin Reed on Jan. 31 when asset protection officials at the Walmart Supercenter recognized him as he entered the store, Presque Isle Police Sgt. Mark Barnes said Wednesday.

The employees had collected video surveillance of Hyson-Tuttle allegedly stealing from the store in the past, including in December 2013, according to Barnes. The images included the man reportedly pushing stolen products out of the store in shopping carts. The goods reported stolen included video gaming systems and games, some of which were pawned at area shops or given to others, Barnes said Wednesday.

In total, Hyson-Tuttle is accused of stealing $3,200 worth of merchandise. Some of that evidence has been recovered, Barnes said.

He was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton, where he remained on Wednesday afternoon, unable to make bail.
