Gorham man charged with domestic violence assault

GORHAM, Maine — A Windham man was arrested last week on charges of domestic violence assault and gross sexual assault against a 30-year-old woman.

Kyle R. Lemay, 26, was arrested just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and originally charged with gross sexual assault and domestic violence assault for incidents that allegedly occurred on Jan. 19 and Jan. 25, according to Detective Sgt. Dana Thompson of the Gorham Police Department.

Thompson declined to say where the woman lives or where the assaults are alleged to have occurred.

Lemay was arraigned on Friday and charged by the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office with two counts of domestic violence assault. The DA has not charged him with gross sexual assault, but Thompson said, “We have more follow-up to do.”

The woman did not require medical treatment, Thompson said.

Lemay has since been released from Cumberland County Jail. Information on his bail and a scheduled court date was not available.
