BANGOR, Maine — Red Sox staff and mascot Wally the Green Monster will visit Bangor and Orono on Sunday, Jan. 26, to share the 2013 Commissioner’s Trophy, presented annually to the World Series Champions, with fans in Maine.

The tour schedule includes events for members of the public to view the trophy, as well as private events.

A public viewing session will be held from 10 a.m.-noon at the Cross Insurance Center in the Ballroom. The trophy will then be available for public viewing from 2-4 p.m. at the University of Maine in Alfond Arena. Both events are free and open to the public.

Maine Gov. Paul LePage has been invited to attend, as have former U.S. Sen. George Mitchell, former Gov. John Baldacci, and mayors Ben Sprague of Bangor and Jerry Goss of Brewer.

The University of Maine will also be hosting “Skate with the Bears” from 2:30-3:30 p.m., which is an opportunity to meet the hockey teams at the same time in Alfond Arena.

For families visiting the Cross Insurance Center for the public viewing, free parking is available in the Cross Insurance Center lots and the top two floors of the parking garage at Hollywood Casino (access at the intersection of Lincoln and Main Street). Entry to the event will be by the Southeast Entrance (Clock Tower), so Dutton Street and Casino parking for this event will be more convenient and is encouraged.

Use of these lots in Bangor is urged in order to keep traffic patterns as smooth as possible with doors opening for the University of Maine Women’s Basketball Game vs. Stony Brook beginning at 11 a.m., with game time at noon.
