DOVER, N.H. — A Maine man charged after a break-in at Terra Cotta Pasta Company last summer pleaded guilty to burglary Tuesday.
During a plea and sentencing hearing at Strafford County Superior Court, Peter King, 38, of Berwick was sentenced to a year in jail with the balance suspended upon completion of a drug and alcohol treatment program.
Police said that on July 29, King forced his way into the company through a closed door and stole a cash register. He was arrested by police in Sanford, Maine, on July 31.
At the time of the burglary, King was on bail for stealing donation jars from Janetos Superette grocery store in Dover. He was arrested July 5 for stealing cash donated for the Cocheco Valley Humane Society and the Moore Fight Moore Strong fund, an effort to raise money for a local woman fighting breast cancer.
On Tuesday, King pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property in connection with that crime. His entire sentence was suspended dependent on good behavior and compliance with the terms and conditions of the court’s orders.
