ELLSWORTH, Maine — Accused murderer Christopher Saenz, 30, is being held without bail at Hancock County Jail. He appeared at Hancock Superior Court for the first time at 1 p.m. Monday.

Saenz is accused of murdering his wife, Hillary Saenz, 29, on Christmas Day. He was arrested and charged with murder late Friday night.

A medical examiner determined that Saenz died of blunt force trauma on Dec. 25, according to Lt. Bill Harwood of the Maine State Police. The couple lived with their two children, ages 12 and 8, in Ellsworth.

Attorneys Jeffrey Toothaker and Robert Van Horn have been assigned to represent Saenz in this case.
