ARUNDEL, Maine — A collision on Route 1 on Monday night sent five people to the hospital while one driver was charged with drunk driving, according to police.

Lisa Desmond, 49, of Kennebunk, was pulling out of an Eagles Club parking lot when her Cadillac turned into the path of a 2002 Dodge Caravan driven by Jeffrey Nason, 45, of Kennebunk, Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office said.

The impact pushed Desmond’s vehicle into a snowbank on the shoulder of the southbound side of Route 1, King said. Her vehicle was hit in the front driver’s side while Nason was heading north.

One of Desmond’s two passengers, Michael Little, 42, of Kennebunk, was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland while Desmond and the other passenger, Kevin Perkins, 49, of Kennebunk, were treated at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

Nason was also transported to Maine Medical Center while his 16-year old son, whose name was not disclosed, was transported to SMCC, King said. The five victims’ injuries aren’t considered life-threatening.

Desmond was summoned for operating under the influence and is set to appear in court March 12.
