BANGOR, Maine — A woman who could not pay for a two-night stay at a local hotel wound up going to jail on a felony charge, police said.
Tracy Cote-Dorweiler, 46, apparently provided a false payment to staff at the Hampton Inn on Haskell Road on Friday, according to Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.
Rumsey said the value of the two nights Cote-Dorweiler stayed at the hotel was a little more than $300, but an exact amount was not disclosed.
Police were called to the facility around 2:45 p.m. Friday after it was learned Cote-Dorweiler and two others had not checked out of their room, Rumsey said.
After it was determined Cote-Dorweiler had presented a false payment for the room, she was arrested and charged with theft of services, a Class C felony due to prior theft convictions, the sergeant said.
Cote-Dorweiler was also charged with violating condition of release, and remains at the Penobscot County Jail.
