AUGUSTA, Maine — A Waterville man was indicted Friday by a Kennebec County grand jury on three Class A drug charges.

Indictments were returned against 40 people, including three indictments for felony aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs against Nathan L. Liberty.

Liberty, 36, was also indicted for theft by unauthorized taking, a Class C felony, and burglary of a motor vehicle, a Class D misdemeanor.

On Oct. 9, Liberty was arrested after a short pursuit when Waterville police attempted to apprehend him because of numerous warrants, according to Waterville Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey.

When police showed up at his residence, Liberty fled on a bicycle down Elm Street, onto Winter Street and Pleasant Street, where an officer stopped and arrested him.

His arrest came after a two-month investigation into allegations that he was dealing crack cocaine and heroin from his Elm Street residence in Waterville, according to Rumsey.
