Game notes: The Black Bears get started for real against the Bison, who were picked to finish eighth in the Summit League. UMaine has posted exhibition wins over New Brunswick and Southern Maine, while NDSU routed NAIA Mayville State 112-62 in last Friday’s debut. The Bison, 10-19 last season, play at Harvard on Saturday. The NDSU staff includes Lee Academy and Thomas College graduate Tom Bird, who is its director of basketball operations.
