Two arrested in Sanford vehicle burglaries

SANFORD, Maine — Two young men were arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with a motor vehicle burglary on School Street, police said.

Michael Monroe, 18, of Sanford and Justin Royal, 18, of Acton are both accused of burglary of a motor vehicle, according to a news release issued by Sanford police.

At the time of their arrest, the men were in possession of several stolen items, according to the release. An investigation by Officer Jason Brooks led to the arrest.

Police believe Monroe and Royal may be involved in other motor vehicle burglaries in the area. Police are investigating the matter further.

Monroe and Royal were transported to the York County Jail following their arrest.
