EASTON, Maine — More than a week after a head-on crash on Route 1A, a Fort Fairfield teen remains in critical condition at a Bangor hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries.

Abigail Ladner, 19, remains hospitalized at Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she was flown after the Oct. 27 accident, a hospital spokesman said Tuesday.

Ladner was southbound in a 2004 Honda sedan at about 4:25 p.m, when a northbound 2008 Toyota pickup, driven by 67-year-old Barry Belyea of Portland, partially crossed the centerline into her path, according to police.

The two vehicles collided head on at the intersection of Route 1A and Lamoreau Road in Easton, said Maine State Police Lt. John Cote.

Belyea suffered minor injuries and was treated at The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle before being released.

Cote said at the time that speed and alcohol were not considered factors. Trooper Rob Flynn continues to investigate the accident.
