BDN announces sales and marketing design manager team


BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Daily News has established three key leadership positions for its award-winning design team in its Sales and Marketing Department.

Bridgit Cayer, Charles Huerth and Shelley Sund will lead the creation of digital and print advertising campaigns; audience outreach promotional campaigns; public service campaigns for local nonprofits; and Bangor Daily News branding at events, partnership projects and community initiatives.

Cayer has been named advertising print production manager, responsible for maintaining and enhancing the quality of Bangor Daily News’ print products, including the Bangor Daily News, The Weekly, special sections and custom print products. She will continue to use her digital and print graphic design skills to enhance a variety of initiatives from rich media digital ads to innovative print campaigns. A 15-year veteran of Bangor Daily News, Cayer has a background in advertising production and marketing campaign development, encompassing creation of magazine and newsprint publications, workflow design and maintenance, and procedure improvements.

Huerth has been hired as lead designer and is charged with guiding Bangor Daily News’ advertising design team of Michele Dwyer, John Koladish and Carolina Rave in creating effective visual advertising. He also will set the department’s advertising design standards. Huerth has 20 years of creative experience with local and national clients, including Target. Most recently, he was art director at Hydro-Photon in Blue Hill, responsible for domestic and international marketing of the SteriPEN brand. Huerth earned a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design from South Dakota State University and a Master of Education from the University of Maine.

Sund has been named sales and marketing creative manager, the lead graphics and branding expert for promotion, public service, events and customer-service initiatives. A graduate of the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a Bachelor of Arts in art and a minor in recreation and leisure management, Sund’s background includes 23 years of design experience as a lead designer at Marketing Advertising and Planning, Inc. in Presque Isle, at Evergreen Publications/Kennebec Valley Tourism/Waterville Intown Business Association, and at Klarity Multimedia. Her award-winning background includes work at Waterville Morning Sentinel and a 14-year tenure at Bangor Daily News as graphic designer, Internet designer, special projects designer and audience development manager.
