Maine Gov. Paul LePage

AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage will officially announce his candidacy for re-election on Nov. 5 in Augusta, according to his senior political advisor.

Brent Littlefield said in a press release Thursday afternoon that LePage will make his announcement at 6 p.m on Election Day at the Buker Community Center in Augusta.

LePage has at times said he wasn’t sure whether he’d seek a second term, though he has been more firm about seeking re-election in recent months. Independent Eliot Cutler, who lost to LePage narrowly in 2010, and Democrat Mike Michaud, who is giving up his seat representing the 2nd Congressional District, will be LePage’s major opponents.
