Mary L. Puiia

BANGOR – Mary L. Puiia, 89, passed away Oct. 19, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. She was born March 3, 1924, in Connecticut, the daughter of Anthony and Barbara Glushinski.

Mary was a riveter at Bath Iron Works during World War II. She was associated with the family business, The Waverly, most of her working years. She worked until she was 85. Mary loved a good game of Cribbage and ran some of the best Cribbage tournaments going at The Waverly. She loved the Red Sox and bingo. “15-2; Bingo.”

She was predeceased by her husband; brothers; sisters; and aunt, Sunny. She is survived by her sons, Francis, Paul, and James; grandson, Anthony, who she thought of as a son; grandchildren, Shawn, Shane, Jenniffer, Jodie, Gillian, Heather, Jessie, and Paul; great-grandchildren, Parker, Madeline, Ella, and Garrett; niece, Mary and Santinae; nephew, John; and friends, Barbara, Abbie, Kendra, Lillian, Charlie, Cherl, Bruce, Cindy, and many more.

There will be no visitation at Mary’s request. A celebration of life will be held noon-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the family business, The Waverly. The family thanks all the employees of St. Joseph Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bangor Humane Society.
