Sharon M. Homstead

HAMPDEN – Sharon Marie Homstead, 53, passed away peacefully Oct. 13, 2013, at a Bangor hospital. Sharon was born Sept. 17, 1960, in Star Lake, N.Y., the daughter of Bert B. and Edna (McBroom) Mandigo.

Sharon worked for Lane Construction as a Senior Office Manager where she played an important part in the advancement of the company for 28 devoted years. Sharon was a 28 year member of the National Association of Women in Construction. She enjoyed traveling to Aruba with family, puzzle games, jewelry, shopping, and trips to McKay’s Variety to get her weekly lottery tickets, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family. Sharon will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Sharon is survived by her parents, Bert and Edna Mandigo of Kenduskeag; her loving husband of 23 years, Edward G. Homstead of Hampden; children, Derek J. Mandigo and wife, Natasha, of Kenduskeag, Amanda R. Cash of Biddeford, and Ashley Homstead of Hampden; grandchildren, Kaigan and Brielle Mandigo, and Nicholas Curtis; sisters, Linda Perrigo, Debbie Ferguson, and Lisa Petrino; her mother-in-law, Shirley Homstead; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A private graveside service for Sharon will be held at Nealley’s Corner Cemetery, Hampden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sharon’s honor may be made to the Lafayette Family Cancer Center, care of EMMC Foundation, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402.
