Bangor Hydro reports 2,200 without power in Hancock County

Bangor Hydro crews were working to determine the cause of a power outage that left more than 2,200 customers in Hancock County without service Saturday afternoon.

The power outage impacted 2,233 customers in Hancock County and another eight in Penobscot and Piscataquis counties, the utility reported.

Affected towns included Ellsworth, Otis, Waltham, Mariahville, Amherst, and surrounding areas.

Crews were working to restore power as safely and as quickly as possible, the utility said.

Bangor Hydro reminded customers not to touch a downed power line or a tree in contact with one.

Customers may check for outages on the Live Outage & Restoration Map at www.bangorhydro.com and also on the mobile site at www.bhe.com/m.

Customers may report outages or ask questions by calling (800) 440-1111 (Central and Down East Maine) and (877) 655-4448 (Northern Maine).
