LIMERICK, Maine — A Waterboro man was killed late Tuesday evening after his vehicle struck a utility pole on Route 160 in York County, police said.
Barrett Sinnett, 22, was heading north at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, according to Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash was reported around 11 p.m., King said.
Sinnett, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was ejected from the vehicle upon striking the pole, according to King.
Police believe alcohol and speed were factors in the accident, King said.
Route 160 was closed for several hours while crews from Central Maine Power, Fairpoint and Time Warner Cable replaced the pole and equipment. The road has since reopened.
