PLYMOUTH, Maine — A local man died early Wednesday evening after the vehicle he was working on rolled on top of him.

Roger Crocker, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene, Sgt. Will Sheehan of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday night.

“He was just out in the yard working on his vehicle,” Sheehan said.

Sheriff’s deputies and Plymouth Fire and Rescue were called to 237 Etna Road at 5:01 p.m. for a report of a person trapped underneath a vehicle, Sheehan said.

“He was working on his vehicle and apparently the vehicle rolled forward and came down on top of him and pinned him under the vehicle as he was working under it,” said Sheehan.

Sheehan said that the small pickup truck Crocker was working on was on a jack at the time and that he wasn’t using wheel chocks.
