More than 5,000 without power in Aroostook County

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — Maine Public Service Co. crews are working to restore power to more than 5,000 customers in central and southern Aroostook County, a utility spokeswoman said early Wednesday evening.

Though the cause of the outages had yet to be determined as of 6 p.m., spokeswoman Susan Faloon said the outages may be related to thunderstorms that passed through the area late Wednesday afternoon.

Faloon said Maine Public Service Company crews are working to restore power this evening to 5,307 customers in Mars Hill, Bridgewater, Monticello, Ludlow, Oakfield, Island Falls, Patten and Sherman.

She said crews hoped to restore electrical service to the affected customers by late Wednesday night.
