Historic overlook opens in Prospect

The Maine Department of Transportation has opened a historic overlook placed on the Prospect abutment of the former Waldo-Hancock Bridge. The overlook feature granite benches, nine parking spaces, two stone walls, and a viewing area from which visitors can enjoy excellent views of the adjacent Penobscot Narrows Bridge, the Penobscot River and Verona Island. Also located at the overlook are three historic plaques connected to the Waldo-Hancock Bridge, which was removed earlier this year.

The Maine Department of Transportation has officially opened a historic overlook at the site of the Waldo-Hancock Bridge abutment on Route 174 in Prospect. The overlook provides a dramatic view of the Penobscot River and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory.
