Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Bean

CORINTH – Geraldine “Gerry” Bean, 85, died Aug. 24, 2013, in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born Oct. 5, 1927, in Charleston, the daughter of Thomas Ervin and Bernina (Sowers) McGray. She had worked in the Shoe Shop for several years and was also employed by Yankee Grocer. She was a lifelong member of Charleston Pentecostal Church and was active in the Seniors Group and sang in the Soul’s Harbor Choir. She was deeply loved by her family and so many others that called her Grammy.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Lovell of Charleston; three grandchildren, Eddie Lovell of Winterport, Naomi Allen and her husband, Donald, of Old town and Gordon Lovell and his wife, Marie, of Corinth; eight stepchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerry was predeceased by her first husband, Leland G. Towle Jr. in 1977; and her second husband, Franklin W. Bean Sr. in 2008. Gerry, the last remaining member of the McGray family, was predeceased by a brother, Leslie McGray; eight sisters, Lyna Sherman, Regina Perkins, Alta Collins, Ethel Strout, Effie Prestridge, Dorothy Tilton, Edith Tilton and Leona Hichborn; and two infant brothers.

Friends may visit at 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Charleston Pentecostal Church, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Matthew Ward officiating. Burial will be at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth.
