WINTERPORT – Ernest “Ernie” G. Wallace Sr., 73, passed away peacefully Aug. 23, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Ernie was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Portland, the son of Ernest R. and Mary (Lyons) Wallace.
Ernie worked for many years at the Bucksport Mill as a maintenance foreman. Ernie’s greatest passion was working on cars and trucks in his garage. He enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his loving wife, Sis. Ernest will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Frances “Sis” Wallace of Winterport; sons, Ernie Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Winterport, Rick and wife, Lisa, of Eddington, and Scott and wife, Wendy, of Winterport; daughters, Jeanne Luetjen of Hampden, Deb Tyler and husband, Joe, of Winterport, and Sandy Cifone and husband, Jeff, of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Henry of Missouri and Carol Perkins of Massachusetts; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ernie was predeceased by his parents.
Family and friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A graveside service celebrating Ernie’s life will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport, with the Rev. Dick Woehr officiating.
