BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man was charged with assault Saturday evening after allegedly punching a bouncer at a nightclub, police said.

Three men, including Dirk Webber, 22, had been harassing security personnel at Half-Acre on Harlow Street and had been drinking alcohol in the lobby, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

Webber and the other men were told to leave the club, upon which Webber threw a punch at a bouncer, according to Edwards. Webber was subsequently escorted out of the club, getting his shirt torn in the process.

Police checked the area, and a short time later, officers found Webber and his friends.

Webber was charged with assault but not arrested while the other two men were not charged with any crime, Edwards said.
