KENNEBUNK, Maine — Kennebunk police arrested an Ogunquit man Thursday on charges of unlawful sexual contact after he allegedly grabbed the groin of an undercover officer.

Dean Bushey, 67, was taken into custody at the York Street rest area, according to a Kennebunk Police Department’s arrest blotter released Friday.

“Police have been receiving information regarding lewd and suspicious activity taking place at the rest area and Roger’s Pond areas in Kennebunk, which resulted in the undercover operation being conducted,” a Friday police announcement stated, in part. “Bushey had been engaged in a conversation with an undercover officer when, at one point, he grabbed the officer’s groin area through his clothing.”

The arrest is the latest in what has been a small string of similar arrests in southern Maine this year.

In early May, Saco police arrested men on two separate occasions for making unwanted advances on undercover officers at Cascade Park, including one in which an Old Orchard Beach suspect allegedly grabbed the police officer’s groin through his pants and said, “Are we doing this?”

Bushey is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on Sept. 18.

Correction: An earlier version of this story requires correction. Dean, not Daniel, Bushey, 67, was taken into custody at the York Street rest area
