BANGOR — Penobscot Community Health Care announced that Dr. Luminita Schiop, has joined the staff of PCHC’s Dental Center at 1048 Union St.
Luminita Schiop, an undergraduate of Barnard College, Columbia University, received a doctor
of dental surgery degree from the New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Schiop completed a general practice residency at St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Port Jefferson, N.Y., and a pediatric dentistry residency at North Bronx Healthcare Network, Bronx, N.Y. Before joining PCHC, Schiop provided pediatric dentistry services in private practice.

BANGOR — Penobscot Community Health Care announced that it has been recognized as a Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality in the Healthcare Equality Index 2013, an annual survey conducted by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organization. PCHC earned top marks for its commitment to equitable, inclusive care for LGBT patients and their families.

Family medicine practice
HAMPDEN — Eastern Maine Medical Center is expanding expand family medicine practice primary care services to the plaza at 7 Main Road North.
The Hampden team will begin caring for patients from other EMMC family medicine offices who wish to transfer their primary care to Hampden in August. The practice will open to new patients on Sept. 16.
Patients will be seen 7:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those interested in joining the practice as a new patient in September may call 862-9400.
