PORTLAND, Maine — A 49-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with the July 20 alleged assault of a staff member at a Portland hospital where the man was receiving medical treatment.

Steven Ricci was charged with unlawful sexual touching and violating the conditions of his bail from a prior arrest, according to Nicole Clegg, spokeswoman for the city of Portland.

Tuesday’s arrest was not Ricci’s first in connection with a sex offense. In 2011, Ricci was arrested and convicted of masturbating in front of a woman on the Fore River trail.

In early March, Ricci was arrested for violating his curfew by going on a late-night pizza run while out on probation for that conviction. And just two weeks later, he was arrested for exposing himself to two adults with young children, again on the Fore River Trail, according to Bangor Daily News archives.

In August of last year, Ricci was arrested after allegedly masturbating on his porch, according to the Bangor Daily News archives. He was wearing only his underwear at the time and standing roughly 20 feet from the view of traffic, police said.

That arrest occurred shortly after his release from jail after serving a seven-month sentence for disorderly conduct.

Ricci is currently being held without bail at Cumberland County Jail, a jail official confirmed. He is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County Unified Criminal Court on Wednesday.
