Bangor man found passed out at McDonald’s accused of drug possession

BANGOR, Maine — A man police found passed out at McDonald’s wound up going to jail early Thursday for drug possession.

Employees of the restaurant on Broadway had notified officers that Joseph Walton, 33, of Bangor was passed out inside shortly before 5 a.m., according to Sgt. Paul Edwards.

When Officer Gary Decker woke Walton up and tried to speak with him, it was clear he was under the influence of something, according to Edwards.

Walton’s bail conditions specify he submit to random searches, the sergeant said. It was unclear what Walton was on bail for.

Upon searching Walton, the officer found marijuana and Tramadol and Clonazepam pills, Edwards said.

Walton was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule Z drug and brought to Penobscot County Jail, where he remains.
