CASTLE HILL, Maine — A Castle Hill man was arrested and charged with multiple violations Thursday morning after police confiscated hashish, marijuana and several weapons, including an Uzi submachine gun with silencer.

Keith Jordan, 35, was arrested at his home at 2880 State Road and brought to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. He is charged with prohibited possession of a firearm, aggravated trafficking in marijuana, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, obstructing government administration and disorderly conduct. His bail was set at $7,000 cash or $70,000 surety. He made bail Thursday evening.

Jordan’s girlfriend, 31-year-old Daween Waugh, also was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana. Her bail is set at $5,000 unsecured.

Several children were at the home at the time and representatives of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Child Protective Services were contacted.

Aroostook County Sheriff Jim Madore said Thursday evening that shortly before midnight on Wednesday, deputies went to the State Road home looking for a woman at the request of the Caribou Police Department.

The deputies were met at the door by Jordan, but as they were talking with him, they smelled a strong odor of marijuana, Madore said. The sheriff said that once the investigators told Jordan they were going to get a search warrant to enter and search the home, he grew angry and tried to flee back inside. A brief scuffle ensued, and he was handcuffed without further incident.

The residence was secured and agents with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency responded to assist, MDEA Division Commander Darrell Crandall said Thursday evening.

When the search warrant was executed, deputies and agents seized an Uzi 9 mm submachine pistol, an AK-47 assault rifle, a shotgun, .22-caliber rifle and a 30-30 hunting rifle. A silencer and loaded magazine for the Uzi also were found. More than a pound of processed marijuana, 53 grams of hashish, 53 marijuana plants, digital scales and drug ledgers also were seized.

Police said that Jordan has a lengthy Maine criminal record which includes convictions for assault and forgery in 1996, as well as drug possession and criminal threatening in 1997. Because of a prior felony conviction, Jordan is prohibited under state and federal law from possessing any firearms.

If convicted on the latest charges, Jordan faces up to 10 years in prison.

The case will be turned over to the Aroostook County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution, according to Madore.

Information on criminal activity may be reported to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office at 800-432-7842. Also, Aroostook County Crimestoppers will pay for information that leads to an arrest for a felony crime. Crimestoppers can be reached at 800-638-TIPS.
