Boyce, Courtney pace Bangor past Trenton

ELLSWORTH, Maine — Hunter Boyce and two teammates combined on a shutout Wednesday as the Bangor Comrades earned a 6-0 Zone 1 American Legion baseball victory over the Trenton Acadians.

Boyce worked the first seven innings, then Justin Courtney and Andrew Hillier each worked a scoreless inning of relief.

Trevor DeLaite stroked a three-run double to hightlight Bangor’s four-run ninth inning and also added a single. Courtney collected four singles, Curtis Worcester posted an RBI single and Nick Ashey doubled for the Comrades.

Mitch Domagala doubled to lead Trenton in support of losing pitcher Steve Hanscom.

Hampden 7, Motor City 4

At Winkin Complex in Bangor, Shawn Smith doubled, tripled, scored two runs and picked up the win in relief as Hampden beat Motor City.

Smith gave up one hit and two runs (one earned) in three innings after Matt Martin allowed four hits, two earned runs and five walks with nine strikeouts in six innings for the 3-0 Riverdogs.

Justin Kasprzak had two RBIs on a sacrifice fly and a single and Spencer Hartsgrove had an RBI single for Hampden.

Motor City (1-2) was led by Cody Collins, who had a two-run triple in the fourth. Shawn Curran scored two runs.
