HERMON – Marilyn Joan (Hawkins) Stewart, 65, of Hermon and Leesburg, Fla., passed away unexpectedly and peacefully June 18, 2013, at her home in Hermon. She was born in 1947 in Houlton.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Harold Stewart; son, Scott and wife, Terri, and their daughter, Nicole, all of Holden; daughter, Amy of Holden; father, Earl F. Hawkins of Boynton Beach, Fla.; mother-in-law and friend, Elva Stewart of Holden; brothers, Wade, Roger, Brian and Gerald Hawkins; and in addition, there are numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. Marilyn was predeceased by her mother, Ethel Marie Hawkins; and father-in-law, Floyd “Peanut” Stewart.
Marilyn graduated from Presque Isle High School, Ricker College and the University of Maine. Marilyn was a teacher in the Hermon schools for 28 years where she was loved and respected by her peers and her students. In her spare time, Marilyn enjoyed camping with Hal and their friends, quilting, sewing, yard sale-ing and cooking for family and friends. She and Hal had enjoyed the last several winters at their home in Florida. Marilyn will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
The family will be holding a private celebration of Marilyn’s life at a future date.
