WELLS – Frances A. McLaughlin, 74, of Georgetown, S.C., formerly of the Bangor area, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 16, 2013. She was born to the late Leah Gould and Wilfred Crossman.
She graduated from Winterport High School, class of 1957. She was happily married to the late Robert F. McLaughlin for 46 years. Fran was a caring and compassionate person, a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to many. She enjoyed meeting new people every day and was a dedicated pet lover. Throughout the years Fran worked in banking, accounting, baking and as a teacher’s aide. Fran was an active member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, Georgetown, S.C.; and volunteered for her church, Georgetown Memorial Hospital, American Heart Association and Salvation Army. She loved to knit, crochet, cook, solve puzzles, shop and volunteer her time.
She is survived by two children, Robert L. McLaughlin and Sheila Steinberg; four grandchildren, Tammy Teague, Tina Teague, Jacob Steinberg and Jessica Steinberg; five siblings, Wilfred “Red” Crossman, Bernice “Bunny” Gendreau, Judith Dahl, Cheryl Vigneault and Valerie McMillan; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Crossman, Sally Campbell and Rose Stocker; brothers-in-law, John Dahl, Robert Campbell and Richard Stocker; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place 1 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A graveside service will be immediately afterwards.
