Bangor man behind bars after allegedly fleeing car crash

By Dawn Gagnon, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor man was arrested Tuesday night after he allegedly left the scene of a car crash on Ohio Street.

Michael Stevens, 37, was found about a half-mile away from the crash, which occurred about 9 p.m. near the intersection of Sunny Hollow Place, Bangor police Lt. Tom Reagan said Wednesday.

Reagan said that Stevens, who suffered facial injuries in the accident, was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment and blood alcohol level testing before he was taken to Penobscot County Jail.

Stevens was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, operating under the influence and operating after revocation of his driver license because of his habitual offender status, Reagan said.

Stevens remained behind bars Wednesday night. He is being held on bail of $200 cash, a jail official said.
