Award for Cross Center concept, construction

BANGOR — The Maine Chapter of Construction Specifications Institute has recognized WBRC Architects∙Engineers as part of the Cross Insurance Center project management team for its excellence at its annual Maine Chapter Awards Banquet on June 4 in Auburn.

The 2013 Award for Excellence in Construction Project Delivery recognizes the combined innovative efforts of the Cross Insurance Center owner, the city of Bangor, Sink Combs Dethlefs, WBRC Architects∙Engineers and Cianbro Corp. in developing the initial project concept, final design and the management of the construction process of the facility.

The Cross Insurance Center is an 8,000-seat arena, and trade and convention facility.

 

High ratings for legal firm, attorneys

BANGOR — Rudman Winchell, counselors at law, announced that the firm and several of the firm’s attorneys have received high ratings from Chambers and Partners, a worldwide legal rankings firm. Paul Chaiken, David King, Frank McGuire, George Eaton and William Hanson were recognized by Chambers for excellence in their respective practice areas.

As a firm, Rudman Winchell achieved prestigious recognition in the practice areas of corporate-mergers and acquisitions, labor and employment, litigation and real estate.

 

New store

BREWER — Tradewinds opened a new store on June 13 at 435 Wilson St.

Tradewinds currently has locations in Bangor, Eddington and Milo, and a car wash and gas station at 471 Wilson St. in Brewer.

Deanna Lee has been promoted to the position of store manager. She has been an associate of the Eddington store for more than five years.

Tradewinds owner Chuck Lawrence said he is planning an 1,800-square-foot expansion in the fall and is negotiating with takeout franchises to add lunch and dinner offerings.

A 5-cent cash discount will be offered on Valero Gas and the new station will join the fight against cancer by donating a penny per gallon to Eastern Maine Charities
